This program is great for back yard birders and other birders who are satisfied learning about the most common birds close to home. Birds of My Region lets you choose which version of the 'mini-guides' you want to load into your computer. The different states and regions offer up to 430 different species, all of the quizzes and identification programs will show just the birds in your chosen region. If you outgrow your region, or move across country, this can be upgraded to the 3.5 version for around $44.00 by going to the Thayer Birding Software website.
