Panhandle Plains Texas Wildlife Trail

Th_mapPanh.jpg
"Texas Parks and Wildlife.

If seeing booming prairie chickens, pronghorn antelope or badger, watching extensive prairie dog towns with burrowing owls, a chance to see the now hard to find Texas Horned Lizard (horny toads!) or visiting a family run ranch or a dude ranch is on your to do list, this map will get you there. The 13 loops, with each loop designed for a weekend adventure, encompass 97sites. The map is anchored by Odessa, Dalhart, the western Oklahoma border, and the Abilene area, the major highways are I-40, I-20 and US 83 and 84. This is the most diverse map with wildflowers and even more butterflies, dragonflies, herps, and mammals to compliment the birds. This is one of six (soon to be eight) birding/wildlife trail maps produced by Texas Parks and Wildlife. As this map includes many private land sites it requires more pre-planning before visiting. The icons are coded to indicate if there is an entry fee or camping sites available. Beautifully illustrated, text includes directions, best birding season, and what to see.

Folds to 4.5 to 8, folds out to 33 x 36, revised Oct 2003
