Have you ever wondered what inspires people to spend their lives filming nature or what they have to go through to get those spectacular shots that educate and entertain us?

For decades, John Bax has searched the world to bring us his beautiful images of nature, and particularly his passion, birds. A pioneer in nature cinematography, his work has been shared by millions. John's search for beauty in nature has meant that much of his life has been spent in the field: camping out, living simply and carrying what he needed on his back. He has endured insects, heat, cold, and wetness--and some danger in his quest.

John's work has been featured on Wildlife Cinema, Untamed World, Profiles of Nature (Discovery) and PBS. From these programs, which have been shown in the U.S. and Canada (and in over 200 other countries), he has developed a substantial and dedicated following. Recently he has made the Rio Grande Valley of Texas his home base to film in Texas, Mexico and Brazil.

This video is an affectionate look at the life and work of John Bax from humble beginnings in war-torn Europe to becoming the respected and award winning nature cinematographer. It celebrates the life of this gifted artist and the birds he has photographed. It is an eloquent plea for habitat preservation.
