If you are more interested in learning what sets owls apart from other birds than how to tell one from another, this book deserves a look. Dedicating just 10 pages to owl identification leaves the rest of this coffee-table beautiful book for an indepth look at what makes owls so fascinating. The author is also a wildlife photographer, so this book is full of photos we've never seen before, along with his 'personal anecdotes and accessible science.' I think it is telling that the Alberta Foundation for the Arts helped fund this book which was published by Johns Hopkins University Press, a true blending of art and nature to present a sound look at owls.
