Butterflies of West Texas Parks and Preserves

Butterfly indentification simplified for enthusiasts lucky enough to be spending time in west Texas’ Big Bend, the Guadalupe Mountains and points in between. Wauer chose the 50 butterflies most likely seen in West Texas and eleven additional “specialties” unique to the far western part of the state. He does a full page write up on each of the 50, with pictures, including how to distinguish it from similar species, when and where to find it, and other facts about its habits and appearance. His introduction has general butterfly information which includes general feeding habits of the region’s butterflies. A checklist of the butterflies, coded for the parks where they can be found, rounds out the book.
